Because sometimes you’re just not in the zone...
Yes, you read the title of this article correctly. Sometimes, people do end up in bed together and don’t have to have sex to be intimate or to have fun. Whether you are abstaining for personal reasons, are not in the mood, or are just plain exhausted, not every evening needs to end with a bang. Here are 5 fun ideas to try in bed with your lover that keep intimacy alive (without the sex).
Watch Your Favorite TV Series Together
Cuddle, have a glass of wine, and relax back into a sea of pillows with your significant other. Sometimes it is fun to just zone out, enjoy the company of your lover, and be entertained. We place so much emphasis on sexual relationships that sometimes we forget how nice it is to just “be” together.
Play a Board Game
I know it seems old school, but board games are a lot of fun, can be challenging and create good conversation. Scrabble is one of my favorites, but whatever game you enjoy, spending quality time with one another and stimulating each other intellectually can be a turn-on, and just plain fun, too!
Read to One Another
For all those non-romantics out there, I dare you to read a classic piece of literature to your partner in bed and not feel more connected and intimate with each other. There is something very romantic about reading to your lover, and it can spark great topics for discussion. So go on, grab a book, and climb into bed.
Sometimes we become complacent in our routines for one another, we forget how important the art of touch is in cultivating intimacy with one another. Light some candles, warm up some soothing and fragrant body oil and enjoy the feel of your lover’s skin as you ease away all their tensions. Take turns, either in the same night or on different nights, and relax into both giving and receiving. It will heighten your passion.
Just Be Present
Just be. Just talk. Just relax. Just snuggle. Just do those things in bed you never have a chance to do, like count the freckles on each other’s bodies. Kiss gently, talk softly and laugh often. Have a real moment in time with one another. Take in the other person’s scent, their eye color, the dimples on their cheeks. Make a mental note of how wonderful they look at this moment and hold it close to your heart. I promise, neither of you will regret it.
