Twoday's topic on X(Squared): We discuss the unrealistic standard of beauty laid out for us by the media. From having to fit into a size zero, to being called “plus size” for having hips, and disappearing armpits (it’ll make sense in the vlog) we are constantly bombarded with images of women that are just not real. No, literally. There isn’t one image we see that hasn’t been retouched, photoshopped, stretched, pulled and redesigned. So, why do we take these images in as our reality? It’s a recipe that sets us up to fail (and we aren’t going to take it, anymore!)

That’s reason enough to get glittered...

I don’t know if any of you heard the saga that involved Bachmann claiming to be held against her will by a lesbian and an ex-nun, but if you haven’t, I suggest you read on. It is quite the un-story.

Hate speech doesn’t get you far in Hollywood...

I’m sure most of you are aware of Tracy Morgan’s recent sexist and homophobic rant that he went on earlier last week while “entertaining” people at a comedy club. Well, his stand-up “comedy” was filled with women-bashing (which, by the way, has been overlooked by the media) and gay-bashing.

I don’t know if any of you have heard, but there is a lot of cheating going on right now. Schwarzenegger has a love child, John Edwards had a sordid affair while his wife was dying from cancer, and now Weinergate has hit the internet with a vengeance.

Is violence ever justifiable?

Rihanna’s new video ‘Man Down’ is getting a lot of negative attention. The video shows Rihanna shooting the man who sexually assaults her. It is violent, yes, but should it be censored?

Openly gay political analyst and host of MSNBC’s popular nightly news show, “The Rachel Maddow Show”, is not holding back when asked if she feels any frustration towards a specific well-known news anchor who is assumed to be gay but has never publicly acknowledged it.

I just read a piece on TheFrisky website (one of my favorites sites) about how the new phenomenon known as the “Push Present” is making women all around the country wonder why their hubbies didn’t give them diamonds after baby. The idea of a “push present” is that the new mommy receives some sort of elaborate gift after “pushing out” her new bundle of joy. The author of the piece worried about the repercussions of such a gift, wondering why the baby wasn’t gift enough.
