Twoday's topic on X(Squared): We discuss the unrealistic standard of beauty laid out for us by the media. From having to fit into a size zero, to being called “plus size” for having hips, and disappearing armpits (it’ll make sense in the vlog) we are constantly bombarded with images of women that are just not real. No, literally. There isn’t one image we see that hasn’t been retouched, photoshopped, stretched, pulled and redesigned. So, why do we take these images in as our reality? It’s a recipe that sets us up to fail (and we aren’t going to take it, anymore!)

That’s reason enough to get glittered...
I don’t know if any of you heard the saga that involved Bachmann claiming to be held against her will by a lesbian and an ex-nun, but if you haven’t, I suggest you read on. It is quite the un-story.
Hate speech doesn’t get you far in Hollywood...
I’m sure most of you are aware of Tracy Morgan’s recent sexist and homophobic rant that he went on earlier last week while “entertaining” people at a comedy club. Well, his stand-up “comedy” was filled with women-bashing (which, by the way, has been overlooked by the media) and gay-bashing.
Here is a taste of what he said at his show:
There are no words. Leave it to Kathy Griffin to bring the funnies! Enjoy!
I don’t know if any of you have heard, but there is a lot of cheating going on right now. Schwarzenegger has a love child, John Edwards had a sordid affair while his wife was dying from cancer, and now Weinergate has hit the internet with a vengeance.
Is violence ever justifiable?
Rihanna’s new video ‘Man Down’ is getting a lot of negative attention. The video shows Rihanna shooting the man who sexually assaults her. It is violent, yes, but should it be censored?
Because name-calling is so effective...
Because you can find the silver lining...
As we all know, the Schwarzenegger saga is just one more in a long list of men behaving badly. But, is it as simple as that? Can we just slap him on the wrist like we do with so many others and shrug our shoulders?
According to Rachel Maddow, yes they do!
Openly gay political analyst and host of MSNBC’s popular nightly news show, “The Rachel Maddow Show”, is not holding back when asked if she feels any frustration towards a specific well-known news anchor who is assumed to be gay but has never publicly acknowledged it.
Here’s what she had to say:
After all the hoopla and excitement of yesterday’s nuptials between Prince William and Kate Middleton, the next obvious question was, “Where are these two crazy kids going for their honeymoon? Surely, they must need some well deserved rest and relaxation post-wedding?”
Because if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em...
For all of you royal wedding fans out there, here are some juicy details about the bride and groom’s big day.
Long live love!
Michael Douglas Speaks About Wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Her Secret Struggle with Bipolar Disorder
Recently, Michael Douglas spoke to Oprah Winfrey in an interview that is set to air today about his wife’s private battle with depression and how she was cruelly “outed” by the media.
A guilty pleasure? Or bad for women?
I just read a piece on TheFrisky website (one of my favorites sites) about how the new phenomenon known as the “Push Present” is making women all around the country wonder why their hubbies didn’t give them diamonds after baby. The idea of a “push present” is that the new mommy receives some sort of elaborate gift after “pushing out” her new bundle of joy. The author of the piece worried about the repercussions of such a gift, wondering why the baby wasn’t gift enough.
Romance is in the air....
Reese Witherspoon is one of Hollywood’s brightest A-List stars, so it is not a surprise that her wedding had to be top secret to secure that her big day went off without a hitch. But, now that the wedding is over, details are leaking about the star’s big day and here are some of the fun tidbits from Witherspoons’s star studded nuptials.
Rebound or Real Thing?
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t Scarlett, 26, just go through a divorce from Ryan Reynolds? And, didn’t Sean Penn, 50, just go through a nasty (and seemingly never-ending) break-up with Robin Wright Penn? And, now, Scarlett and Sean are together? Is this the weirdest Hollywood coupling to happen in a while or do these two crazy kids seem like a good match? Me thinks not.
