The Trend: Don’t Let the Weather Dampen Your Style

Well, as we all know, the weather looks like rain, rain, and more rain.

This makes it a little more difficult getting ready in the morning because you want to stay dry all day.  But, don't worry! I have some tips that can help keep you looking stylish and comfortable when choosing what to put on when it's nasty out.

Trench coats: These are becoming more and more popular, especially with the wet weather.  Long or short, they are functional and fashionable.  Look at this cute vintage Burberry!

Pea-coats: A classic item that will always be in style. You can also choose long or short. They look great with anything you pull together.

Boots:
Waterproof boots are great to have especially if you walk or ride the bus to school/work. Check out this great site that shows different outfits with rain boots and pea-coats. Great rainy day tips!

Umbrellas are a must-have accessory to take with you when you leave in this yucky weather. But, what we don't think about is how fun and easy it is to accessorize with umbrellas!  Try to find a few cute different colors and mix and match them with your outfit. Umbrellas galore!

Beanies:
I absolutely love wearing beanies! They are great when you are having a bad hair day or just want to stay extra warm.  The type of beanies and fashions out there are endless! Which one do you want?

What's the best way to stay dry when it's pouring?

Seal up your wrists: It is common for the rain to drip into your jacket if your hands are exposed.  It travels from your hands and into your clothing—leaving you damp!  Make sure when you're shopping for a rain coat which have wrists with Velcro that you can tighten.  If you are wearing long sleeves underneath the rain coat, roll up the sleeves so that they don't get wet, too.
I'm wet, now what? Try to ventilate your jacket as much as possible to get some airflow to dry it out.  No matter what, you shoes will probably get wet.  Wear knee-high rain boots, if possible.  This helps stop additional water that can drip into your boots simply by walking.  It can help protect your pants as well, because they won't get wet at your ankles

Hot or not?  Plain or Plaid? … Plaid!!!

Plaid is becoming very popular for this fall and winter, even for spring 2013.  The 90's grunge is starting to make a comeback.  There are different styles that you can play off of with plaid.  You can go for the lumberjack look with a plaid blouse and a rugged vest. Or you can opt for a simpler look like Katie Holmes did: Katie Holmes rocks the lumberjack look.  This is the more edgy version: Lumberjack girl!

If you're not into the lumberjack look, wear plaid in a funkier way. You can accessorize with plaid handbag or plaid scarf.  Check out these adorable pants! Fabulous plaid pants! You can even look more feminine with a cute dress like this one: Sexy plaid. A really great way to play off of the plaid patterns is to try vintage inspiration. There are lots of vintage pieces that are totally awesome. Check out your local thrift and second hand stores; you will be surprised what you can find.

And hey, you men out there! This doesn't just apply to women.  Plaid in menswear is popular, too. Look at this article: Men's Plaid Fashions. These looks from GQ are SEXY! There isn't one way to wear it; it's a mix of everything, so take risks and try new styles.

Everyone out there can always use fashion as their personal expression!
