Yes, you read that correctly.
Because when eating well and exercising regularly just aren’t enough, and you need something a little extra (to put that spring in your step AND whittle your waistline) why not try the “Sex Diet”? Hey, it seems way more fun than Weight Watchers, right?
And guess which celebrity is leading the way for this new trend to lose the weight?
Come on, you know you secretly already know.
Kim Kardashian, of course! Well, it is a rumor, but you know all rumors have a kernel of truth to them. Plus, let’s explore the the possibilities of what a diet would consist of.
The rumor has it that in order to lose weight on the “sex diet”, Kim is having sex every single day. She claims this not only burns calories, but also suppresses one’s appetite. The source (let’s go out on a limb and say that this source is Kris Jenner, the mom-ager from hell) claims that Kim has managed to lose seven pounds in seven days by following this strict (but fun!) fitness routine.
But in all seriousness...could having sex every day really help you lose weight? Let’s break this down!
According to Woman’s Day magazine, different sexual activities burn different amounts of calories.
Here’s a quick run-down of some favorite intimate activities and how many calories each burn:
- Lock Those Lips! Kissing can burn up to 68 calories per hour. However, Jayia Kinzback, a sexologist and author of Red Hot Touch states that “if the kissing is vigorous and involves some petting, it could be even closer to 90 calories burned per hour.” Ladies and gents, start your engines! As a bonus, making out with your partner can give a more intense work out, at 238 calories burned per half-hour. So what are you waiting for?
- The Magic Touch That Burns Calories and Tones Arms! Did you know hand jobs burn 100 calories per hour? Just another fun fact and a reason to give your partner a hand. BUT, you can burn an additional 50 calories per half-hour by taking things to the next level. Rock your body against your partner’s, change up the speed and pressure, and continue to kiss! You’ll be ready for a triathlon in no time at all!
- Oral, Please! At burning 100 calories per half hour, who knew oral sex could be a great add-on to your daily work out? And even better news, you don’t have to be on the giving end to receive this benefit!
- And of course, Having Sex Gives That Just-Worked-Out Glow! Sex burns at least 144 calories every half hour. The key to burn the most calories during sex is to make it last as long as you can, and make it as intense as you can. Changing up your positions can help you burn an additional 18-30 calories. And, in case you were wondering, experts agree that when you orgasm during sex, you burn a lot more calories than when you don’t. Just another reason to vocalize what you want in bed!
But, having said all of this....can you really lose a pound a day just from engaging in sex? On average, a person has to burn 3,500 calories just to lose one pound of fat. I know, that’s a lot of sex. Basically, if Kim Kardashian really lost a pound a day from sex, she would need to have sex for 12 hours every SINGLE day. (145 calories x 2 = 290 calories per hour. 12 hours x 290 calories = 3,504 calories burned.)
Talk about a determination to lose the weight! In all seriousness, though, it doesn’t seem feasible AT ALL that anyone would be able to have sex for 12 hours straight every day for seven days. I think that would be a definition of insanity. However, adding sex to your workout routine as a way to maintain a sexy, healthy lifestyle? Now that is something we can all get behind...no pun intended.
