Kimmie on the Prowl: Light Turbulence

Unfortunately this was another week with zero dating excitement.

My schedule has become so hectic lately that I have had to do a lot of juggling. I didn’t even realize it had been weeks since I had logged into my dating accounts, let alone checked out any local events. I quickly did my due diligence but once again found myself more amused than anything else. Not just the pictures; grown men who can’t spell and use horrible grammar make me laugh. I stumbled upon a dating site for the local area within my city but was equally uninterested. Something tells me I’m not going to find a Mr. Right online.

I have, however, finally been enjoying hanging out with Scott some. I realize I can at times, especially in my own house, be a bit difficult to be around.  (Nicest way to say pain in the ass). Having the dogs and our schedule, it’s simply easier for people to come to my place. How we got to the point of enjoying hanging out was no small feat. What used to lead to screaming and door slamming has evolved to snarky sarcasm or over the top ‘sweetness’. He drives me a bit batty because he moves things around, repeatedly. So much I finally began to suspect he does it on purpose.

He gives my dogs tons of attention, probably more than me. He likes to joke that my girl dog, Lolly, is his girlfriend. He also likes to say he wants his mom to meet Lolly. Not me, just Lolly. Murry he could do without but that’s how most of the population feels. I’ll often find myself upstairs working for an hour before I realize everyone else is downstairs playing and watching TV. He really is as nutty as me, which is probably why we get along.

The nice thing is the longer you hang around someone the less you notice his or her quirks. Or maybe you simply care less. For example his jaw used to drop at the specific instructions I had to order even a sandwich. Now it would only surprise him if I ordered something straight off the menu. Just as I no longer say anything when he washes my dishes by hand. I realize how unfair a comparison that sounds but I do have an actual machine dishwasher. He loaded a few items once; butcher knife point up. You can guess the only reason I noticed that, but I let it go.

I’m not sure most friendships and relationships suffer as many stabilizing bumps but I am grateful we are only in light turbulence for now. It’s nice to find someone who enjoys going out and doing the same things. Even if that someone prefers my dog’s company to my own. As for now, I’m keeping my foot down on Lolly meeting his mom. Something tells me with just Murry and me left here, they might not make it back.

Here’s looking forward to a less hectic real-life week and a more hectic dating life week!
